Final Teams: 2024 AFL National Futures match
THE AFL has today finalised the teams to take part in Saturday’s National Futures showcase match, which serves as a curtain-raiser to the AFL Grand Final. 46 bottom-age (2007-born) prospects will take to the MCG in an audition for next year’s AFL Academy intake, and insight to the 2025 draft crop.

All states and territories are represented across the two squads, named after retiring champions Dyson Heppell and Rory Sloane. The former side will be coached by Northern Territory Academy head coach Dale Eames, while Oakleigh Chargers mentor Ash Close takes the reigns of the latter team.
Selected players will arrive in Melbourne on Friday, where they are set to train at The Hangar in the afternoon. They will then be addressed by Heppell and Sloane before preparing to take centre stage. The game bounces down at 9:35am on Saturday, and will be broadcast live via the AFL website and app.
Only one forced change has been made to the initial squad of 46. Sandringham Dragons premiership player Xavier Bamert sustained a shoulder injury in last week’s decider, so has been replaced by Calder Cannons midfielder/defender Felix Kneipp in the Sloane camp.
