WEEK eight of the 2024 AFLW season begins tonight with a potentially intriguing clash between two sides that have not had the most idea of seasons but will be looking for some consistency tonight.

Recent form
Before snatching victory from the jaws of defeat last weekend, Carlton was on a four match losing streak.
The Western Bulldogs on the other hand are currently on a two match losing streak and will be looking to jump back onto the winners list as soon as possible after a tough few weeks.
Last time they met
As two foundation clubs of the league, there is certainly plenty of history between these sides.
In the last clash between these two sides, which was back in round six last season, Carlton took the lead about halfway through the first term and never looked back, going on to record a 19 point win to record two wins in a row for the first time that season.
Key stat areas
Carlton has been getting a lot more of the ball than the Bulldogs have this season, and the Blues have also been doing a lot more tackling, both inside and outside 50, so that is an area of concern for the Bulldogs heading into tonight. However, neither side has been overly strong in the tackle department so there is hope that tonight’s match will be very free flowing and not congested.
While the Bulldogs may be the more dominant of tonight’s combatants when it comes to hit outs, Carlton has the advantage when it comes to clearances.
Key match up/s
As the team with the lowest points for tally so far this AFLW season, the Bulldogs need to get their forward line really ticking if they want to progress as a team.
So, Analea McKee, Sarah Hartwig and the rest of the forwards have a big job ahead of them tonight, but with direct opponents like Harriet Cordner and Kerryn Peterson, their job will not be easy.
