SUMMARY
Gilbey is the type of player who has the athletic side of the game down pat. Recording the highest vertical jump both for standing (59cm) and running (72cm) at the Preseason Testing, she also clocked the fastest agility time of 8.357 seconds, and finished top three in the 20m sprint with 3.229 seconds. As a whole, her athletic profile is elite, so there is little doubt she can impact in that regard on-field.
The other element of Gilbey’s football is improving the footballing traits such as her fundamentals, to have a sustained impact with ball in hand. She played six games at League level in 2024 making her debut at the level for the eventual premiers, while also spending a further seven games down at Rogers Cup level in her bottom-age season.
Her clear best game came against Peel Thunder in Round 8 where she racked up 15 disposals, laid four tackles and booted 2.2. While still rounding out her game and further building strength to compete against the bigger bodies, she looms as one to watch on the outside with outstanding speed and agility. Expect her to catch the eye with her line-breaking run.
