WAFLW 15 to Watch in 2025: #13 Layla Quinn-Schofield

BOASTING an envious left boot, Subiaco forward Layla Quinn-Schofield made her WAFL Women’s debut in 2024 to earn Under 18s state honours. Quinn-Schofield played three games for the Lions, averaging 11.7 disposals and 2.7 tackles, while finishing off with a couple of majors to earn her spot in the Sandgropers’ side.

DOB: 27/07/2007
Height: 166cm
Position: Forward
Club: Subiaco

West Australian Female Talent Manager Trent Cooper says:

“Layla’s a really smart forward, a left-footer. Really smart around goals, very good in the contest and has got the ability to get hand to foot really quickly which can create havoc for the opposition.”

SUMMARY

Quinn-Schofield looms as a point of difference in the West Australian top-age draft crop with her creativity around goal, but also her power to push up the ground. She has such a damaging left-foot that if she is not kicking goals, then she is likely setting them up, placing her passes into dangerous spots inside 50 and spotting targets on the lead.

Though the Subiaco prospect has had limited senior time compared to her peers, she showed through the national championships that she can pop up and make an impact, which she did with the Lions. While still needing to work on her endurance in order to impact games for longer and potentially play higher up the field, she has the forward craft and footy IQ that will hold her in good stead.

One noted trait is her quick decision making between winning the ball and disposing of it, while still being able to hit a deadly pass. Not a huge accumulator at the moment, Quinn-Schofield can further improve in 2025 and is expected to feature consistently for the Lions throughout the WAFL Women’s season.
