AN ALL-Perth battle takes place at Joondalup Arena tonight when West Perth plays host to Perth, opening Round 3 of the WAFL Women’s. Both sides are yet to taste victory, but that will change for at least one team tonight in what will be a showcase of plenty of future stars.

  • West Perth
  • Perth

FORM

All three Perth sides find themselves winless after two rounds, but that will change following tonight’s match with reigning preliminary finalists West Perth looking to get on the board in season 2025, while Perth is searching for its first win in WAFLW history.

TEAMS

CHANGES

The sides have made three changes to their respective lineups from Round 2, with young ruck Cara Dziegielewski returning to the fore alongside Hayley Bidefeld and Jamarah Woods. The Falcons will be without Emily Bennett after hurting herself last week, while Leuca Krmpotic and Tazma Hutson are the omissions.

for Perth, co-captain and former Saint Isabella Shannon comes in for her first game, named alongside other inclusions Natalie House and Breanna Wills. A trio of Demons come out in Sarah Guilfoyle, Sarah Spratt and Chloe Seivwright.

AFLW DRAFT TALENT

The inclusion of Dziegelewski will see her combine once against with fellow State Academy members Mia Russo and Lexi Strachan, both of whom have held their own against much more experienced opponents. However in taking on Perth, it is a far more even matchup in terms of experience, and should be a number of great battles.Samara Sallie is another State Academy member who will likely play in defence, while Addison Opalinski has been named at half-back for Perth after playing on a wing last match.

PREDICTION

Both these sides have a lot of young players, though the experience and class edge of West Perth will be too much so expect the Falcons to get on teh board in season 2025 and shake off a gallant Perth side that will fight for every touch.
