2025 CTLG | Round 3 Player of the Week: Jovie Skewes-Clinton

GREATER Western Victoria (GWV) Rebels went back-to-back in our Coates Talent League Girls Player of the Week for Round 3 with top-age utility Jovie Skewes-Clinton slamming home five second half goals to steer the Rebels to victory against Calder Cannons.

Skewes-Clinton finished with 24 disposals, four marks, four tackles, two clearances, five inside 50s and 5.2 to kick half of the goals in the match. Having played at both ends, the top-ager has supreme smarts and skills, and that was on full display inside 50 during a red-hot second half.

She became the first top-ager to earn a nomination this season after teammate and over-ager Isabella Davies in Round 2, and bottom-age Oakleigh Chargers forward Bailee Martin in Round 1. There were a trio of impressive individual performances from the Rebels game which in a normal round might earn the Player of the Week honour, as Maggie Johnstone (29 disposals, seven marks, seven inside 50s and two goals) and Chloe Baker-West (26 disposals, three marks, seven tackles, eight clearances, three inside 50s and 14 rebound 50s) both starring too.

Sydney Swans Academy tall forward Grace Parsons kicked five as the red and whites toppled Tasmania Devils up at Blacktown, while the Swans’ cross-town rivals Giants Academy smashed the Bushrangers at Lavington. Murray-listed forward Majella Day feasted with four goals from 20 touches and seven marks as the standout from that match.

Northern Knights duo Olivia Gorman (26 disposals, three marks, eight clearances and two goals) and Marlo Graham (22 disposals, four tackles, four inside 50s and two goals) both stood out for the Knights in a big win over Bendigo Pioneers.

Meanwhile down in Williamstown the Ranges took care of the Western Jets by 125 points as Josephine Bamford (21 disposals, four marks, 24 hitouts, four clearances, four inside 50s and three goals) was among those to standout in the demolition, though she was far from alone.

Another five-goal hero was Brisbane Lions Academy bottom-age forward Harlee McIlwain who snagged five from 17 disposals, five marks and six tackles in a victory over Geelong Falcons. It was a tough day out for the Falcons who went down by 57 points, but midfielder Georgia Tyrrell was a shining light with 28 disposals, 13 tackles, seven clearances, four inside 50s and four rebound 50s.
