NORTH ADELAIDE:
#1 Ethan Herbert | Ruck
Stats: 18 disposals, 30 hitouts, 9 clearances
The bottom-age ruck has been taking the Under 18 competition by storm. He is able to win the tap and give his midfielders first use of the football, if he wasn’t winning clearances himself. He can also be damaging around the ground and makes his present felt in aerial contests.
#16 Zackariah Young | Midfielder
Stats: 19 disposals, 1 goal, 4 clearances
Young is next level excitement. Speed, power, agility – if you’re looking for a kid who’s got x-factor, you can stop the search. Young is able to use his speed to burst away from stoppage and win clearances. He’s also dangerous when he gets into the forwardline, his goal came from his positioning at stoppage and some quick thinking to get the football to his boot.
#31 Bradley Rogers | Midfielder
Stats: 21 disposals, 8 tackles, 9 clearances, 1 goal
Another midfielder who’s able to get in and under, Rogers was able to win his own football in the centre of the ground, while also applying himself defensively. He was often first on the loose ball and worked hard to help surge it forward in transition.
#58 Mason Klenner | Key Forward/Ruck
Stats: 7 disposals, 17 hitouts, 2 goals
The big key forward of the Roosters’ lineup. In a wet day, Klenner was still able to be clean above his head and often worried his defender in one-on-one situations. He was able to lead to the right positions and ended the day with a couple of goals as a result. Also chopping out for Herbert in the ruck, Klenner held his own against the Tigers bigman, Rex Jones.
Others:
Jay Sanders, (13 disposals) was impressive with his efforts and was able to help the Roosters transition the ball in the middle, while also being strong defensively. Thomas Charles, (nine disposals, three inside 50s) was also great when the Roosters put the ball inside 50. Alex Hollingworth ended the day with nine rebound 50s, and stopped the damage from being worse come the final siren.
GLENELG:
#6 Harvey Croker | Midfielder
Stats: 34 disposals, 11 clearances, 8 tackles
In his best game to date, Croker displayed his ability to win the football both inside and out. Clearance after clearance, Crocker started Glenelg’s forward pushes, either via his own foot or by getting the ball up to a teammate. Croker can also compete in the air, though only took one mark.
#18 Ned McCarthy
Stats: 20 disposals, 7 marks, 5 goals
The talisman in the forwardline for Glenelg, McCarthy ended up with multiple goals in the first term before finishing the day with five. He presented well to his midfielders and competed well at ground level, showcasing his ability to win the football off the deck as well as in the air.
#27 Kobe Gibson | Midfielder
Stats: 27 disposals, 7 tackles, 1 goal
Croker’s partner in crime, Gibson was just as dangerous. Gibson was able to accumulate the football for the Tigers, winning the ball at stoppage before dishing it out. The number 27 also snuck forward at times and was rewarded with a goal.
#35 Rishabh Arcot | Small Forward
Stats: 13 disposals, 2 goals, 3 inside 50s
Arcot offered plenty for the Tigers as a small forward with plenty of skills, speed and flare. His delivery inside forward 50 was a forward’s dream, but he was also the premier small for the Bays. Using his smarts, he was able to get his first goal during the second term. Then he entered his purple patch for the game, kicking to back-to-back goals to take the game away from the Roosters.
Others:
Ruck Rex Jones (13 disposals, 22 hitouts, one goal) moved well around the ground and was able to hold his own in the battle against Herbert. Meanwhile, Jimmy Hele (19 disposals, one goal) was able to use his football smarts to position himself well to win the ball.
