Jacob Donald (35 disposals, nine marks) was outstanding for the victors, booting three goals alongside Taj Longmuir (24 disposals, nine marks) and Byron Foster (seven marks, 23 hitouts), and Latrell Yarran. Millar Rank and Ashton Clissold also impacted the scoreboard for South, who had 53 inside 50s to 28.

James Barnard (19 disposals, eight marks) was named best afield for East Perth, who remain in eighth place at 3-5. Cole Trinder topped the Royals’ disposal charts with 22 and nine marks, while West Coast Next Generation Academy member Garrison Kenh (18 and nine) showed his class in the loss.

The round’s only other fixture took place at Bassendean Oval, where Swan Districts held on to beat Perth by eight points. After creating a handy buffer with four goals to one in the third quarter, the Swans held off the Demons’ late rally to win 13.6 (84) to 12.4 (76) and leapfrog their adversaries into sixth place.

Underagers Leo Steed (22 disposals, 10 tackles, one goal) and Jai Debono (20 disposals) led the way for Swan Districts, while Cooper Shord bagged a game-high four goals. William Tilbee was Perth’s best, leading all comers with 24 disposals, nine tackles, eight inside 50s and a goal in the losing effort.

The result sees Swan Districts move back to an even ledger (4-4) as part of a mid-table bottleneck. Perth also sits on 16 points behind the Swans, Subiaco and Claremont, who boast superior percentage. Regular programming resumes with four games on Saturday as the competition moves past halfway.
