Allies release 2025 AFLW Under 18s squad

COMPLETING the puzzle of squads at the AFL Women’s Under 18 Championships, the combined side from NSW/ACT, Northern Territory and Tasmania – the Allies – confirmed a 26-player list for the upcoming national championships. The former has the bulk of the representatives with 16 players hailing from either the Giants or Swans Academies, six from the Northern Territory and four from Tasmania.
The Allies boast six National Academy members in the squad with Tasmanian pair Mischa Barwin and Priya Bowering, Northern Territory’s Marika Carlton and Danika McDonald, Giants Academy’s Isla Wiencke and Swans Academy’s Madeleine Quinn. Top End talent Shakaila Gardiner-Dunn – who was recently a call-up for the National Academy squad – also made the side.
The condensed team will be coached by Swans Academy mentor Tanya Hetherington, and features two over-agers in ultra-athletic cross-code ruck Yasmeen Janschek and fellow Giant Ella Randall. There are also seven bottom-agers in the squad with some serious talent from those states coming for the 2026 AFLW Draft. They include Murray Bushrangers’ pair Majella Day and Rose Bell, Swans Academy’s Charlotte Tidemann and Giants Academy’s Zoe Curry.
Kicking off on Sunday, the Allies open their account against Vic Country at Trevor Barker Beach Oval in Sandringham. They then head to Queensland to face Vic Metro on Sunday, July 13 at Brighton Homes Arena, before hosting Western Australia six days later at Blacktown International Sportspark. They return to the Sunshine State on July 27 where they tackle the Maroons.
