2025 RMC MEDAL | Prospects produce massive games ahead of bye

AHEAD of the league-wide bye next weekend, some Coates Talent League Girls players put up huge numbers in Round 14 to earn Rookie Me Central Medal votes. With most of the leading contenders out of action with Vic Metro or the Allies, it gave the opportunity for some Vic Country stars to stand up. Here’s who the round went down with our votes.

>> SCROLL FOR RMC MEDAL ROUND 14 VOTES

Over-age Bushranger utility Ellie Hall, bottom-age Ranges star Brylee Anderson and Geelong duo Stella Huxtable and Georgia Tyrrell all made sizeable moves towards the top-end of the Rookie Me Central leaderboard. Hall, Anderson and Huxtable produced best on ground performances to poll the full five votes, and move within six of the leader, Chloe Baker-West. Tyrrell added three votes to share the Falcons’ top votegetter with her close mate ahead of the week off.

Greater Western Victoria (GWV) Rebels’ Maggie Johnstone is another potential winner, only polling the two votes but still within a game of top spot. The countdown to the final round could provide the closest count on record, with four rounds remaining and theoretically just over 20 players still in contention. Though realistically, those within 10 votes – of which there are 13 players on 20 or more – are the major contenders.

That includes Dandenong Stingrays’ bottom-ager Alice Cunnington who has surged clear as he side’s top vote-getter, though will always have stiff competition from the likes of Evelyn Connolly – who is inside the Top 20 as well – and others such as Lillian Snow (four votes on the weekend) and Nalu Brothwell. One player making a massive charge is Gippsland Power’s Ella Stoddart who has polled back-to-back best on grounds to move up to 15 votes and be second behind Abby Hobson for her side.

The full leaderboard will be posted in detail next week, ahead of the last month of action which will be fascinating considering those in Vic Country and the Allies will still have a match remaining in the national championships.
