2025 RMC Medal Leaderboard: Round 14

HEADING into the last month of Coates Talent League Girls action, mathematically up to 42 players are still in the running for the Rookie Me Central Medal, with 12 aspirants within 10 votes of the leading player, Chloe Baker-West.

The Calder Cannons jet has been unlucky this season with a number of setbacks even at national level, but when on the park is a vote-attracting machine. Baker-West has polled 30 votes, of which 25 came in the opening six rounds to open up a big lead. Since then, the likes of Murray’s Ellie Hall (28 votes) and Eastern’s Brylee Anderson (27) have joined Oakleigh pair Chloe Bown (29) and Bailee Martin (25), and GWV Rebels talent Maggie Johnstone (25) within striking distance of the pacesetter.

Baker-West returned for Round 12 after injury to produced a 44-disposal, best on ground display and keep in front of her nearest rivals in the count. Hall – who has polled 24 votes for the Bushrangers in the past six matches – has been the bolter up the order, while Anderson (16) has also made a late charge. The other in-form player in Western Jets’ Tayla Olivieri with 18 votes since Round 9, second to only Hall in that time.

Bown and Martin are not the only duo inside the Top 15 with Geelong Falcons midfield pair Stella Huxtable and Georgia Tyrrell both on 24 votes. The former has joined the latter as the club co-leading vote-getter, while Isabella Davies remains on 20 votes behind GWV teammate Johnstone as she has spent more time at VFLW of late.

Murray Bushrangers have three players on 20-plus votes with Hall’s 28 followed by Nikhita Spiteri and Rose Bell who have both polled 20. Dandenong Stingrays’ Alice Cunnington and Northern Knights’ Scarlett Johnson have recorded 23 this season.

Respective club leaders Macy Watkins (Sandringham Dragons) and Priya Bowering (Tasmania Devils) have 19 and 18 respectively, while Knights’ Marlo Graham (18) has also polled well. Other new club leaders are Gippsland Power’s Abby Hobson (16) and Bendigo Pioneers’ Lacey Nihill (eight).

Geelong Falcons have the upcoming bye in Round 15 – which makes it tricky for Huxtable and Tyrrell – while Dandenong Stingrays (Round 16), Calder Cannons, Eastern Ranges and Murray Bushrangers (Round 17) and Tasmania Devils (Round 18) are the other byes. That leaves Bendigo Pioneers, Gippsland Power, GWV Rebels, Northern Knights, Oakleigh Chargers, Sandringham Dragons and Western Jets as the sides with four full games remaining.
