TOP 5s | 2025 AFL State Draft Combines
EASTERN Ranges defender Rod Ali was among the top performers in the 2025 AFL State Draft Combines last month. Ali recorded a remarkable 109cm running vertical jump – 19cm clear of his nearest State Combine rival – while also winning the standing vertical jump by seven centimetres.
On top of his huge jumps, Ali finish second in the agility test (7.958 seconds) and fourth in the 20m sprint (2.896 seconds) in an all-round complete indoor physical testing performance. Ranges teammate and tall Marcus Krasnadamskis was another eye-catcher with the 202cm athlete finishing in the top five for his standing and running vertical jumps, and second overall in the 20m sprint.
Gippsland Power’s Mitchell Stevens took out the honours in the 20m sprint with a blistering time of 2.885 seconds, pipping Krasnadamskis by two hundredths of a second. South Fremantle’s Ryda Luke – who was fifth in both the standing vertical jump and agility test – finished third with 2.889 seconds.
In the agility test, West Australian Dale Sutherland raced home in a lightning 7.833 seconds, pipping Ali as the only other State Draft Combine invitee with a sub-eight second time. Claremont’s Charlie Banfield was third as the West Coast father-son prospect finishing in 8.031 seconds.

Banfield’s best performance came in the 2km time trial however, just edging out fellow West Australian Toby Whan by three seconds (6:08 to 6:11), with Sandringham Dragons’ Xavier Bamert (6:10) splitting the pair on the podium.
