West Coast kicked off proceedings by selecting local prospect and West Australian Under 18 captain Fred Rodriguez. The South Fremantle midfielder was one of two state MVPs to finally have their name called out, alongside Vic Metro’s Oliver Greeves. The latter landed at Hawthorn.

Also among the fresh faces, Melbourne snapped up 195cm Murray Bushrangers midfielder Riley Onley with pick three, while Fremantle joined the Eagles in making a local choice – livewire Swan Districts forward Leon Kickett. Port Adelaide also promoted SANFL list member Jack Watkins.

The final live pick of the draft was made by Geelong, who previously re-listed George Stevens and Keighton Matofai-Forbes. The Cats called out Northern Knights speedster Nicholas Driscoll, with no clubs pulling any surprises out of the hat otherwise.

A further eight players were pre-listed as rookies, six as Cat B selections. The likes of Louis Kellaway, Thomas McGuane, Ben Rongdit, and Wesley Walley were among the overlooked club-tied prospects. Meanwhile, Adelaide finally picked up Callum Ah Chee with the only pick in the Pre-Season Draft.
