2025 AFLW Draft review: Port Adelaide

PORT Adelaide paired up a couple of close mates in its 2025 AFL Women’s Draft haul, with two National Academy members heading to Alberton to stock up even more talent. A local high-end prospect alongside a naturally gifted West Australian saw the Power bring in a couple of A grade players at great value.

Port Adelaide was always linked to local talent, so when Eaton’s name was on the board at Pick 17, the Central District player was too good to refuse. Having become a premiership player in the SANFLW at just 16 years of age, Eaton has spent time in every role, be it forward, wing, inside or off half-back, the latter of which might end up being her most damaging one if not as a high half-forward.

Eaton has elite skills and decision making capabilities which enable her to do a lot of damage with ball in hand going forward. With extra time to bulk up and potentially spend time inside, Eaton will only become more competitive against the strong inside midfielders. She is the Rolls Royce of the AFLW Draft crop though, and will be a player teammates love to get the ball in the hands of going forward.

For the Power’s second selection, they plucked out Eaton’s close friend Crane who had to sit out her bottom-age year with an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury, but returned in 2025 as if she had never left. A prestigious talent at 16, Crane plays predominantly as a tall intercepting half-back, but can go onto a wing too.

Strong and a lovely left-foot kick, the Subiaco tall stands at 181cm and will compete with most opponents in the defensive half of the ground. She is a ready made prospect who can fill the shoes of the retired Janelle Cuthbertson, and switch between negating and offensive roles in the back 50.

GRADE: A

Two genuine stars through the junior ranks, Port Adelaide has done very well with its minimal selections, and both should really be competing for a spot early in the Power’s lineup. Their footskills and clean hands in particular will aid the Power as they look to bounce back from the somewhat frustrating 2025 season and make finals again in 2026.
