Positional Analysis
Vizgaudis has proven she can play in a multitude of positions, particularly as that midfielder/forward rotation. Though slight compared to other onballers, Vizgaudis packs a punch with her elite defensive pressure and stoppage craft. When forward, while she does not kick a lot of goals – in fact three of her four majors came against Sturt in Round 8 – she sets up a lot of opportunities for her teammates.
2025 Stats
SANFLW | 16.3 disposals | 2.1 marks | 4.3 tackles | 3.1 clearances | 2.4 inside 50s | 4 goals (15 games)
AFLW U18s | 9.3 disposals | 1.0 marks | 5.3 tackles | 1.0 clearances | 0.8 inside 50s (4 games)
Key Strengths
Vizgaudis is both clean and tough, and it shows out on the field. Able to win the ball and distribute in congestion or when forward, she sees the game well and can execute by hand or foot. Her kicking is effective and is ultra-smooth in the way she goes around the ground. Without a doubt her defensive presure and ability to win in contested situations despite her size is huge.
2026
No doubt hitting the scoreboard – as she did against Sturt – consistently is a way that Vizgaudis can go to another level. She is consistent across the board in terms of her output, winning it well and able to distribute it all around the ground. She can have some big games and quieter games, but generally she gets involved each and every week. With more strength and consistency when forward, she can go a long way.
Summary
One of a number of South Adelaide prospects this year, Layla Vizgaudis is definitely one to watch. Whether she is around the coalface or inside 50, her creativity and defensive pressure really stands out. With another year of development under her belt – and the potential for a third straight SANFLW flag – Vizgaudis is a name to keep in mind for both the Panthers and Croweaters in 2026.
