2026 Talent League fixtures revealed
THE AFL has today released fixtures for the upcoming Talent League boys and girls seasons. The competition continues to expand, with news that the Bachar Houli Senior Boys Academy will compete in two matches, while the four club-aligned Northern Academies will now play seven games each.

TALENT LEAGUE BOYS
The 2026 boys season will commence on the weekend of March 21-22, with a 23 rounds of home-and-away action scheduled to conclude on the weekend of August 22-23. Wildcard Round will be held the next weekend (August 29-30) before a three-week knockout finals series culminates with the Grand Final on September 19-20. The four Northern Academies from NSW and Queensland will feature in seven matches each between Rounds 2-9, while the Northern Territory Academy will participate in four games. Meanwhile, the Bachar Houli Academy is set to debut in Round 6 against the GWS Giants Academy, before playing a second match against Tasmania Devils in Round 16.

TALENT LEAGUE GIRLS
The girls season has been expanded to a 21 home-and-away rounds, commencing on the weekend of March 28-29. A Northern Academy double-header kicks things off, with a Sydney Derby on the Saturday followed by Sunday’s Q-Clash. As per the boys fixture, academies from NSW and Queensland will now participate in seven matches each, while the Northern Territory Academy will play four times. Finals begin on the weekend of August 29-30, culminating in the Grand Final on September 19-20. Wildcard Round is not part of the girls postseason picture.

UNDER 16s
The 12 Victorian regions are set to participate in the Talent League Under 16 competition. Boys and girls fixtures will be held from February to April, with each team to play two matches each. The girls will be in action between February 28 to March 15, while the boys take centre stage from March 21 to April 10. These fixtures will assist selection for Vic Country and Vic Metro squads ahead of the 2026 AFL Under 16 National Championships.
