CENTRAL District top-ager Demi Holloway is hoping for a consistent season at League level after beginning to build the foundation blocks at the Bulldogs last year. The youngster made her debut in 2025, and after impressing through the AAMI Talent League to start this year, has her sights set on a senior place.
We spoke to Holloway at the South Australian Preseason Testing Day about her football journey, game, inspirations and goals for the year ahead.
Q: Demi, tell us a little bit about your footy journey?
DH: “Originally I started at Ingle Farm and I was young, it was still the mini ovals. Then I went from that to Salisbury North about 12. I was pretty decent at it, I was like ‘okay this is pretty good’. Then I did Salisbury North 12 to 15, and then 15 I started getting to the Central carnivals, and last year I actually started training with the seniors, so reserves, then debut last year Round 8 and then played the last few games and now I’m here.”
Q: What would you say is your favourite position to play?
DH: “That’s a tough one for me. Because club was always midfield obviously, but then SANFL I feel like I’m leaning more towards a forward, high-forward.”
Q: What do you see as some of the strengths in your game?
DH: “Personally I think I’m pretty good at getting the groundballs in and out, even if it’s just a quick handball out. I’d say that, groundballs, clean and quick.”
Q: What about the improvements in your game?
DH: “Probably running patterns, more leading, more of a system. Unrewarded running I guess, and in the aerial contests.”
Q: Which AFLW club do you support?
DH: “Port Power.”
Q: Is there a reason?
DH: “My cousin Nick Moore is dating Amelie Borg, so they’re good family friends.”
Q: Was there a team you supported originally?
DH: “Nah, I wasn’t really into AFLW until not long ago.”
Q: Who’s a player you look up to or model your game on?
DH: “I think I’d look up to Dakota Williams, she’s a midfielder in my team and she’s just so hard at the ball, all the time the efforts, second efforts, all that.”
Q: What goals do you set for yourself this year?
DH: “Obviously I want to be in the draft.I think I just want a good season overall. Be able to play League all year, finish it and be like ‘yeah I did my best, I pushed myself’.”
