2026 Talent League Girls finals locked in
A TRIPLE treat of action takes place at Shepley Oval on Saturday to kick off the Talent League Girls quarter finals. Only four sides will remain after this weekend – a standalone match in Tasmania decides the other contest – as three first-time title hopefuls join five past winners in the race to the 2026 flag.
Reigning premiers Eastern Ranges finished second in the metropolitan pool following a big win over first seeds Oakleigh Chargers, but being runners-up means the Ranges are on a crash course with the unbeaten Dandenong Stingrays in the preliminary final. Of course the Ranges still have to get past Calder Cannons in the mean time, while the Ranges clash with fourth Country seeds, Geelong.
Top ranked metropolitan side Oakleigh Chargers avoid the other two two teams until the decider, with Ty Vickery eyeing off his third flag in four years. They have a danger game against the in-form Western Jets, with the winner to progress through to a preliminary final against either Tasmania Devils or Murray Bushrangers. Those two sides meet at Glenorchy with the second seeded Devils remaining at home to tackle the Bushies.
Naturally the winners of the preliminary finals will progress through to the grand final which will take place in-line with the boys’ decider. The Talent League Boys have wildcard round this weekend and then a knockout top eight finals series, with the girls to have a bye during the boys’ preliminary finals weekend.
