Jordan Doherty

height: 199cm

weight:

D.O.B: 21-02-2005

Leagues: AFL U18 Championships, Coates Talent League Boys

STRENGTHS:

+ Follow-up work
+ Mobility
+ Production
+ Upside

IMPROVEMENTS:

- Contested work
- Ruck craft

Dandenong Stingrays ruck Jordan Doherty has emerged this year as a mobile ruck with plenty of potential. Having enjoyed a significant growth spurt over the last couple of years, he has been made to translate his game from being a tall wingman, to genuine key position player.

Doherty was Dandenong's primary ruck this season, though arguably played the role of a fourth midfielder around the contest. His mobility and clean fundamental skills saw him follow-up at ground level prolifically, also showcasing great agility to weave through traffic and run in waves.

The 199cm over-ager presents significant upside in terms of how he plays, though certainly has some areas to work on. Doherty was outperformed in the ruck battle by several talls but would often beat them around the ground, so could perhaps develop as a key forward or back. Otherwise, building the tank, frame, and contested nous to ruck at the next level will be key to his success.
