A relative late comer to the NAB league pathways, Nathan Scollo did not debut until Round 7 for the Sandringham Dragons, but was undroppable since. Scollo has been the picture of reliability for the Dragons in the back half of the ground, with his positioning and aerial ability making him a difficult match up for opposing forwards.
Scollo has improved with each outing, slowly upping his disposal numbers and offensive input through the season, using safe options when moving from the defensive 50 most of the time. Though not one to go for the risky kicks, Scollo was the perfect player to have ball-in-hand given said reliability, and the fact he often won his own ball through intercept marking was important. Averaging 14.8 disposals, 5.5 marks and 4.1 rebound 50s in season 2022, Scollo became an important cog in the Dragons defence.
Whilst there was notable improvement in his hurt factor towards the latter stages of the year, it still remains an area of improvement heading into the next level, along with his strength and size if he is to play as on the key forwards of the league. Being a 191cm defender, Scollo is that third tall height, and while he is capable to playing that one-on-one role, gaining extra size would be a crucial area for him if he did take on taller opponents.
