A mid-championships call-up for Vic Country, GWV Rebels defender Oscar Gawith was brought in to perform a specialist role. The sturdy 193cm stopper had the unenviable task of taking on Allies powerhouse Jed Walter, and kept the forward to 11 disposals, six marks, and 2.3 in a loss.

Measuring up at somewhat of an in-between size, Gawith is capable of taking on taller opponents with his strength and one-on-one capabilities, which often combine to blanket dangerous opponents. He is relatively mobile for his size too, able to close in on contests or apply defensive pressure.

After nearly being ruled out for the season with a thumb injury, Gawith returned for the Rebels' last two games, including the shock elimination final loss to Geelong. He earned a state combine invite but did not participate in the event, and as a potential draft smoky, has quite limited exposure as a top-ager.

Still, he managed nine games at Coates Talent League level to go with his couple of Vic Country appearances. While defensively sound, Gawith can improve on his production levels having averaged 8.9 disposals, 1.3 marks, and 1.2 tackles per game. If overlooked this year, he may be considered mid-season in 2024 with a good run at it.
