WITH just over a month left to go in the QAFLW season, attention will no doubt start turning to finals, and Round 12’s games could go a long way in determining how the final ladder looks.

In this week’s Match of the Round, it is a replay from an encounter back in Round 4 as Maroochydore hosts Coorparoo.

Last time around it was Coorparoo who got the win despite going scoreless to quarter time, so the Roos will be certainly hoping to avoid a repeat when the teams meet again on Saturday.

The Roos are coming off one of the biggest results of the season, as they became only the second side all year to defeat Southport, last weekend.

Coorparoo, on the other hand, had a very different result last weekend, losing to the University of Queensland for the first time in several seasons.

One glaring stat from the last time these two sides met was the inaccurate kicking from both sides.

The Kings kicked 5.13, while Maroochydore managed 2.6, so that will something that both coaches hope is not repeated. Both sides have shown in subsequent weeks that they can kick much straighter than that, so time will tell how accurate things are this time around.

Last time out, it was Maroochydore who won many of the stats.

Coorparoo had more disposals than Maroochydore, but the Roos had a higher number of inside 50s, marks, marks inside forward 50 and tackles.

Last time around many of Coorparoo’s main ball winners were solid as expected, including the likes of Sally Young and Laura Blue, so they will be hoping those two can have another great game this weekend.

Meanwhile for Maroochydore, keep an eye out for the likes of Mikayla Martin and Rachel Crack who both had great games last time, and will be looking for similar performances this time around.

This match is also a battle for the top four, with only half a game separating the two sides. Maroochydore actually have a better percentage currently than Coorparoo too, so both sides will be super keen to earn the four points and gain a foot hold in the top four.

Elsewhere in the QAFLW, Southport will certainly be keen to bounce back from last week’s loss when it travel to face Aspley. Wilston Grange has a second match up against a reigning Grand Finalist in a row, this time facing UQ, while Yeronga South Brisbane has quite the hike this week down the highway to face Bond University.
