A composed and polished prospect out of West Perth, Griff Julian came into his top-age year as one of Western Australia's more established players. A strong bottom-age Colts campaign saw him enter 2022 as one of the Falcons' leaders, and he proved integral to his side's run to the grand final. During an impressive campaign with the minor premiers, Julian naturally earned state Under 18 selection and donned the Black Duck in three National Championship games.

His output was slightly down at representative level, but Julian's production levels proved strong in West Perth colours. Having transitioned from a general defensive role to midfield, Julian averaged just under 24 disposals per his nine games, dropping below the 20-mark just thrice. He hit a high of 38 touches along the way and even got to hit the scoreboard with four majors as he ventured further afield.

Waxing well with the likes of Falcons skipper Kane Bevan, he benefitted from the contested nous of his club and state teammate to prize clearances and showcase some of his composure with ball in hand. That factor is arguably better shown down back, and while Julian is a neat user of the ball, he could certainly look to become more expansive.
