ONES TO WATCH

Slotting in as one of the most high quality 23rd man selections is Jack Dalton, Sandringham’s deputy vice-captain. The bottom-age midfielder was Vic Metro’s Under 16 MVP last year and is set to play his first game for the Dragons this season having been injured in the first block.

He’ll likely roll on-ball along with the likes of Hawthorn father-son candidate Ned Maginness and Luke Kennedy, with captain Brodie Findlay rucking to them. Hopefully they win enough ball to feed high marking tall forwards Archie Ludowyke and Harry Armstrong.

Along with Sandringham’s Ludowyke and Armstrong, Oakleigh lays claim to its own Vic Metro squad member in Louis Emmett. The mobile ruck missed out on a representative berth this week despite the vacancy presented by Iliro Smit’s selection in the mid-season draft.

Elsewhere, the Chargers have been well served by smalls Kobe Askew and Kane Emery. There’s upside in the form of bottom-agers Charlie Whitehead and Sam Allen, while Allies squad member Waylon Davey will be out to impress, along with midfielder Zane Cochrane.

PREDICTION

Both sides are on losing runs and have had there squad depth stretched to the extremes over recent weeks. The APS bye helps both teams, who are missing many of their representative stars, allowing for a competitive match. Sandringham has proven very difficult to beat at RSEA Park this year – just ask Oakleigh – so, Dragons by 18 points.
