NEW FACES

North Melbourne-Werribee brings in some important AFLW talent to stock up on its already successful side with ex-Pie Charlotte Blair, ex-Tiger Stella Reid and ex-Blues Taylor Ortlepp and Gena Lawson-Tavan who face their former side for the first time. On top of that, Hawthorn ball-winner Bridget Deed, experienced campaigner Tessa Boyd and ex-Bomber then most recent Dog, Courtney Ugle. Watch for Caitlin Fletcher who has been a star at AFL Sydney level too.

While the Roos have not included any of their AFLW Draft prospects from last season, Carlton has unleashed defender and Western Jets premiership player Lou-Lou Field named at half-back. Fellow newcomers Scout Howden (Sandringham Dragons), Tahlia Plunkett (Northern Knights) and Sasha Pearce (Bendigo Pioneers) have come out of the Coates Talent League. From an AFLW perspective, Lucy Burke has made the switch to the Blues to face her former team.

PREDICTION

It is hard to go past the reigning premiers in this one. They have a lot of new faces – 10 in total – but still have the quality required to contend. If they can take control in the midfield where they have lots of strength, then it will be hard to stop.
