2026 AFLW fixture released

THE FULL 12-round fixture for the 2026 AFLW season was released by the AFL today with Round 1 to kick off on Sunday, August 9. The opening round of action will see a split weekend thanks to a standalone season opener between St Kilda and Carlton at Marvel Stadium as part of a special double-header with the men’s match for Spud’s Game. The remaining eight matches will take place the following weekend from August 13-16.

The 2026 fixture includes 12 rounds for premiership points, before four rounds of finals action. It will culminate in the 2026 AFLW Grand Final on the last weekend of November.

An additional two double-headers will take place alongside the men’s matches, with the North Melbourne and Geelong clash at Marvel Stadium and the GWS Giants and West Coast contest at ENGIE Stadium given fans twice as much football at one venue.

Swans fans will also get to see their men’s and women’s sides in Round 2 of the latter and Round 24 of the former when Sydney hosts Essendon in the AFLW on the same day that the Swans take on North Melbourne in the AFL.

Indigenous Round will be celebrated across Rounds 3 and 4 with Richmond and Essendon to once again play their Dreamtime match up at TIO Stadium in the Top-End, while the first of three AFLW double-headers takes place in Round 4 with Richmond and Fremantle, and Carlton and Collingwood facing off at Ikon Park.

Pride Round will also span across a fortnight in Rounds 9 and 10, while Queensland, South Australian and West Australian fans will experience their cross-town rivalries all in the one weekend in Round 8. New venues for 2026 are Cockburn ARC – the home of the Dockers in Perth – and the Kennedy Community Centre in Dingley, Hawthorn’s homeground.
