Stat Leaders: 2022 AFL Women’s – Round 5

ADELAIDE midfielder Ebony Marinoff was among the dominant stars across the latest weekend of AFL Women’s action, as she helped the Crows kick away from Carlton on Sunday afternoon. Plenty more players produced big numbers in Round 5 of the AFL Women’s season, find out who as we take a look at this week’s stat leaders.

Along with partner-in-crime Anne Hatchard, Marinoff overwhelmed the one-paced Blues midfield and came away with a round-high 31 disposals for her efforts. She also fell just one stat shy of top spot in the kick, mark, and tackle tallies, stamping her claim as one of the players of the round.

In the same game, standout Carlton ball winner Madison Prespakis continued her strong form in a struggling side, collecting a competition-best 16 handballs under plenty of pressure. Opting to go by foot, North Melbourne midfielder Jasmine Garner registered the most kicks this week, finishing with 21 in her side’s win over Fremantle.

A quartet of goalkickers snared two apiece in Round 5, made to share the lead this time around. All four did so in wins; with Ailish Considine kicking two beauties for Adelaide, Zimmorlei Farquharson snaring a couple for the Lions, Tayla Harris (Melbourne) sneaking up on the overall lead, and Phoebe McWilliams (Geelong) also getting on the board.

Around the ground and at the contest, Western Bulldogs bull Kirsty Lamb got her hands dirty and worked hard to notch nine marks. In the clearance stakes, Amy McDonald earned a dozen, while Lily Mithen and Cathy Svarc laid the same amount of tackles. Rounding out this week’s stat leaders, third-game West Coast ruck Sarah Lakay won a league-high 21 hitouts in her side’s narrow loss to Geelong.
