Jess Roper is a hard-nosed small defender who has stepped up to League level with the inclusion of West Perth in the WAFL Women's competition. Providing run and carry for the Falcons out of the back half, Roper is as competitive as they come, hates being beaten and will compete against bigger bodies both in the air and at ground level. She has some terrific speed and plenty of offensive elements to her game, enjoying to take grass and move the ball in transition to disrupt the opposition. A Fremantle train-on player last AFLW season, Roper's form during the WAFLW season was acknowledged by the Dockers, and though she still has areas to work on such as being a bit cleaner and developing her left foot, she has been able to experience training alongside the elite talents.
