Aprille Crooks has all the traits to make it to the elite level, it is just about piecing them together at once to really justify her place in the AFLW. Her start to the SANFLW season under new North Adelaide coach Kelly Barltrop was terrific, kicking goals in seven of her first nine game, and across the opening seven weeks, posted double-digit disposals every game.

Her second half of the season was quieter - withstanding a brilliant three-goal display against Central District in Round 12 - but Crooks still has her 'moments' even when not winning the ball. At times she could be more composed - often rushing the final product going inside 50 - but the lightning speeds she clocks always makes it tricky.

One of the fastest players in the country, Crooks is off to the races the second she gets goalside and it is 'good luck' to any defenders trying to catch her. Alongside her obviously offensive appeal, Crooks works hard defensively too, laying multiple tackles in every match this season. She stepped up to spend time around the ball at different points, and has now been able to play across all three lines. A player on the verge of exploding and going to yet another level again next season.
