PROFILE:

McWilliam is one of those players who has a long CV in terms of her experience and adaptability across the nation. The Northern Territory local has played in the Top End, down south in the VFLW and now across in Western Australia, and being able to slot into various lineups and coaching styles.

For the Black Ducks, McWilliam averaged 9.3 disposals and booted nine goals in 12 games. She provided a target inside 50 for the most part, and had three games where she kicked multiple goals. In the middle of the WAFLW season, McWilliam went on a tear where she booted seven goals in a four-week span, averaging 14.3 disposals and 4.5 marks in that time.

McWilliam is a natural athlete with a strong vertical leap and is mobile around the ground. Though she is not the complete player yet, particularly at ground level, she did show an improvement in her tackling pressure in the second half of her WAFLW season. An improvement in her ground ball work and strength across the board will help given she is a lightly built forward.

In saying that, she is always going to be a player that gets by with her size and athleticism causing headaches for opponents. At 178cm, McWilliam has the reach to get high in a marking contest, and though she can get outbodied at times, moves well and can create her own space. Over time, McWilliam has improved on the fundamentals of her game and remains a player that AFLW clubs can take a chance on for the future.

In addition to her natural athleticism, McWilliam is also a versatile type, having rolled through the ruck as well too. She has the vertical leap despite being undersized, and though she will likely be a forward if drafted into the AFLW, will have the capacity to be a second ruck in a team.

Overall, McWilliam is a player with raw potential and though she still has areas to work on, has been able to slot into multiple teams across the nation, so would have no qualms travelling anywhere in the country to fill a role if a club so desired.
