PROFILE:

Norwood's Coby Morgan took another step forward in 2024 as an explosive winger having played in a small forward post the season before. While always having the running capacity and speed to impact further afield, Morgan spent 2023 developing fundamentals within her game. She credits the year with the Redlegs and Croweaters as helping improve her footy IQ which is now a strength, able to get into more ball-winning positions on the outside.

While elements of her fundamentals could still further improve such as her kicking and marking, Morgan's outside game off a wing grew and she was able to make the position her own. She won her touches for South Australia almost exclusively in space, and used her explosiveness to advantage going forward. Not a massive accumulator, Morgan is a high impact-per-possession player through her run rather than execution.

Going forward, Morgan will continue to develop her kicking while potentially growing a contested element, but few could hold a candle to the top-ager's impressive breakneck speed. Essentially, the South Australian is a raw prospect with some exciting upside for the future.
