SUMMARY: A late value prospect for the Brisbane Lions Academy is Darcy Marsh who tested extremely well at the State Combine last month. He was terrific in the vertical leap, recording a massive 90cm in the standing jump, and 93cm in the running jump. He also clocked up 3.01 seconds in the 20m sprint. Along with his athletic traits, Marsh is seen as a clean ball user with a high work rate, who rotates between the midfield and forward line, often kicking a couple of goals a game. He was impressive for the Lions in the Academy series, and was a standout in traffic with quick handballs out of congestion, then getting to the outside and having an impact up forward. His size will always be a question mark at 178cm and 75kg, with the lightly built midfielder more likely to play as a forward at AFL level, but having the midfield nous means he could also play on the outside. His endurance and therefore consistency are other areas he needs to build on in order to compete with the stronger, fitter midfielders, but he has some eye-catching traits.
