PROFILE:

Former lockdown defender Emily Brockhurst returned to the SANFLW in 2024 after spending time back at local level, and turned into a goalscoring forward. She not only held her own, but dominated, sharing the leading goalkicker award and finishing the season with 26 goals in 16 games. Though she missed out on the SANFLW state side, she still finished the year strongly and looms as one of the more damaging mature-age forwards.

Brockhurst is capable of clunking some big grabs, and developed that area of her game as time went on, having been a predominant chest marker, to being more confident and strong above her head. She consistently hit the scoreboard, kicking goals in all bar four of her 16 games, with two bags of four goals and four lots of three-goal hauls.

Not a massive accumulator, she can have her moments, but most importantly takes her chances when they come around, with reliable shots on goal, and also setting up her teammates. A case for the biggest improver in 2024 and certainly has draft claims should a club need a readymade forward.
