South Adelaide Under 18 captain Jacob Sheean has been a reliable figure for the Panthers across two seasons. He featured in 20 games last year en route to premiership success, before skippering in 10 appearances as a top-ager between his representative commitments, and going on to turn out in South's Reserves side late in the year.

The rangy key defender is a reliable distributor out of the backline, often opting to go by foot - of his average 19.1 disposals in the Under 18s this season, 16.9 were kicks. While he could do with some added composure at times to make his execution more secure, Sheean generally is a calm head across the last line who sets the play up.

He also reads the game quite well and is a capable intercept marker, if not, he chimes in with a timely spoil. Sheean's leadership tropes saw him take on dangerous key forwards throughout the season, balancing his offensive attributes with important defensive work. Adding a bit more size to better compete one-on-one will help him step up to the next level.
