Jasmine Sowden is a highly competitive player with great defensive pressure around the ball, but can hurt opposition teams offensively as well. At the stoppage, she has the smarts to read the ball off hands and win a stack of clearances, then when forward, Sowden finds space to win the ball and hit the scoreboard consistently.

In 2024, Sowden worked in tandem with potential top pick Ash Centra at Gippsland Power and stepped up after a promising bottom-age campaign. She averaged 20.7 disposals, 3.8 marks and 6.0 tackles, while averaging a goal per game. She earned Vic Country honours and brought similar defensive prowess, with her evasive skills to weave around players or wrong-foot them an element Sowden is not afraid to resort to.

Though Sowden ran at a kicking efficiency of 48 per cent during the Talent League Girls season, it is more her decision making under pressure rather than her kicking technique which yields room for improvement. When executing sharply, Sowden can be damaging on both sides of her body, and with such skill at her disposal she looks like the best player afield at times. Although, she can be relatively unsighted on other occasions, so closing the gap between those performances is important to become a consistently high-level player.
