A Hawthorn Next-Generation member, Josh Bennetts is a classy user around the ground and makes things happen with his creativity by foot, particularly in the forward half. Playing his best football through the midfield this year, Bennetts is more of a receiver from the inside currently, and uses his smarts to hit up forwards in dangerous spots.

Bennetts rarely leaves a game without hitting the scoreboard, going goalless in only three of his 13 Eastern Ranges appearances in 2022. He is strong above his head, averaging 4.2 marks to go with his 18.2 disposals and 1.1 goals per game, which showed his nous to get forward and find space.

At the next level, Bennetts will be looking to develop his craft within the forward 50, at times looking uncomfortable when not pushed up the ground or around the midfield, as well as his contested game, which would be a weapon if improved to compliment his decision making and creativity. As it stands, Bennetts might only be small, but can influence a game both in the air and at ground level, and if he can build on his forward craft, then he could be a strong and talented forward at the top flight.
