PROFILE:

Hung did not have the ideal top-age draft year after a promising preseason with Aspley. The former Wilston Grange tall moved to Aspley at the start of 2021 and gained some great experience through the senior team. Expecting a big year with both the Hornets and Lions Academy, unfortunately two stress fractures in her foot in the opening game of the QAFL Women's season would be a line through her year.

Despite that fact, Hung was still voted in as one of the Lions Academy leaders, and got an off-field view of the game from the coaches box. Learning alongside some of Brisbane's best, Hung took plenty from the season to adapt to her game when she returns over the preseason. Though having limited exposure from a national carnival perspective, she has had a solid junior career leading up to that point, which is why she still received an AFLW Draft Combine invite.

From an on-field perspective, Hung is a contested marking forward whose best position is at centre half-forward. She has played in different roles, but her forward craft and general understanding of the game adds a point of difference to her game. Her already impressive on-field understanding will only be strengthened by her added knowledge from her season in the coaches box.

When inside 50, Hung is a natural leading player with good hands and an ability to hit the scoreboard. She did not really get off het mark in 2023, but has been a physical player both when deep or playing higher and rolling up the ground. Though not quick, Hung makes up for it with strength and smarts, which enables her to play her role.

The culmination of those footballing skills with game understanding will allow her to translate that to the top level. She has areas to still develop from an athletic standpoint, having lost a season from doing her usual running, which will require a dedicated effort over the off-season which if 2023 is anything to go by, will not a be a problem for he top-ager.

Aside from her athletic elements to improve and working her way back into matchplay, Hung has an overall good grasp of the game. Well respected by her peers and able to provide a marking target in the forward half of the ground, Hung has the traits that clubs look for in a strong forward.

Overall, Hung has a well-rounded forward game, particularly from a traditional sense, and though athletically she can further improve, and has to get back what she did prior to 2023, the Lions Academy member has kept herself in contention.
