Left-footed Geelong Falcons forward Michael Rudd is a natural footballer of sorts, who plays in a traditional style of marking and goaling, but with the new-age high endurance base. Rudd is one of the best runners for his size and position, and he naturally tested well in the 2km time trial. The Falcons co-captain is not as athletic as others in terms of his speed, and at times it can hamper him at ground level, but his aerial ability and contested marking in particular set him apart.

Rudd is not afraid to crash packs and leap high, and at 193cm, does the basics right from a leading forward's perspective. Boasting a penetrating kick to match his aerial prowess and strength, Rudd is a reliable marking target and key link-up player in every side he plays. He has the potential to go later in the National Draft after a really consistent AFL Under 18 Championships, where he booted seven goals in three games against some stiff opposition - at crucial times, too.
