The Sturt key position player has enjoyed a terrific uninterrupted season in 2023 after having her top-age year affected by injury. Able to play anywhere on the field, McCarthy has found her place in attack for the Double Blues, becoming a force inside 50. She is strong overhead, athletic and is as good of a set shot as anyone going around. The fact a club could throw her anywhere on the field is a bonus. Once she can improve her consistency, McCarthy could be a valuable tall having come through the South Australian talent pathways.
