Octavia Di Donato was one of the more unlucky players to miss out on being drafted in 2022 following a strong top-age season with the Bendigo Pioneers. An all-round utility who has played on all three lines, Di Donato's skill and decision making with ball-in-hand stands out, and makes her a valuable distributor of the ball.

Not known for a high production rate, Di Donato is a lighter bodied player so is best suited to the outside or running off a flank where her smarts and use by hand or foot really come to the fore. Not having many deficiencies in any one area, Di Donato managed 14 matches at VFL Women's level this season for Carlton, averaging 12.4 disposals, 2.7 marks and 2.6. tackles.

She returned to play a game for the Pioneers late in the season as they were smashed by Oakleigh Chargers, but was clearly one of her side's best in her sole over-age game for the club. Di Donato's jack-of-all-trades mentality might work against her at times as it is unclear what her best position is, and where she fits at AFLW level. But in saying that, the fact she can slot in anywhere makes her incredibly valuable, and someone who can fill a hole where required.

Still only 19, Di Donato has nominated nationally, and while she missed out last year, the talented utility has a year of senior football under her belt and may be looked at closely in this year's draft.
