SUMMARY: The 2017 Western Australia Under 18 representative has missed out on being drafted. However, Oliver Eastland took a big step forward in his quest to play AFL by playing 20 games for Claremont seniors in 2018. Eastland played five games at the tail-end of the 2017 season, but the big man noticeably looked more comfortable in his first full year playing at this level. Eastland's averages for his season were 11.6 disposals, 3.3 marks, 2.6 tackles and 21.1 hit-outs per game. Claremont qualified for the finals series in 2018, and Eastland took his performances to the next level averaging 14.5 disposals, four tackles along with 27.5 hit outs. The ruck-work of Eastland has been widely praised for his positioning and tap work, but he will need to add a few kilos to frame to have a real presence at the next level along with being able to kick a few goals when resting in the forward line.
