PROFILE:

Sabella Banks enjoyed a consistent top-age season for East Perth this year as the Royals improved on their inaugural 2023 WAFLW season. Banks provided some great run and carry which would come into play at the Draft Combine testing later in the year, as well as taking on some big jobs.

A reliable defender who could attack as well as defend, Banks put her name into draft calculations. Getting the call up to the West Australian squad, Banks faced the likes of Ash Centra and Georgia McKee - two very different sized and athletic players - with the coaching staff not afraid to hand her tough jobs inside 50. While her opponents got on top early, she quite often managed to nullify them in the second half of games and held her own.

That accountability and defensive pressure underpinned her game, though as she showed at the State Draft Combine, possesses some elite speed and athleticism that can be further maximised on gameday. She does have to work on some of her fundamentals and kicking precision as well as overall production, but has the hallmarks of being a really accountable player who can impact offensively as well.
