PROFILE:

Tiani Teakle is a strong marking utility who plied her trade in a similar vein to her older sister up forward, but then made the move down back where she had a greater impact. More consistent behind the ball, Teakle showed great nous to intercept and drive the ball from defence. Like her sister, Teakle has a penetrating kick and is very handy one-on-one whichever end she is up.

While her endurance is a work in progress and her speed is an area that can further develop, Teakle has a lot of nice traits. She booted 10 goals in 14 games for the Sharks at WAFLW level then made a move down back late in the season where she had a huge first final against Claremont. In that match she clunked five marks and laid four tackles from 17 disposals to really shine in the defensive 50.

At the national carnival, Teakle continued her development down back, playing all three matches deep inside defensive 50, averaging 10.3 disposals, 3.0 marks and 5.0 rebound 50s. Her athleticism might have her locked into that defensive shutdown role, but her powerful boot allows her to clear the danger as well which is important.
