SNAPSHOT:

Tshinta Kendall is potentially the biggest bolter of the AFLW Draft Combine invites. Hailing from a rugby 7s background, Kendall played her first season of QAFL Women’s this year mixing between seniors and reserves. Though raw with fundamentals to develop, Kendall has exciting upside and enormous potential as a speedster who can break lines.

PROFILE:

Kendall's athletic profile on-field is what catches the eye. She takes the game on and is willing to back herself against the opposition. Naturally with her evasion and ability to break tackles - learned through her rugby experience - she will draw multiple opponents which also opens up the game for teammates allowing them to run on.

Her first season was in the Queensland Football Association (QFA) Division 1 where she represented Coolangatta Tweed, before her potential saw her move into Bond University. There, she only played the three senior games but was key in the reserves' premiership win.

At 22 years-old, Kendall is the oldest player who received an AFLW Draft Combine. But, as a Brisbane Lions train-on - who was quickly pushed up from the division one to being a backup for an AFLW team in the space of 12 months was incredible.

Her speed and run-and-carry is her bread and butter and instantly it is obvious she is a cross-coder. Her fundamentals are her main growth area with ironing out her technique the next step in her development. However she plays a strong territory game and can kick the ball a decent length for a player who has predominantly played a running style of game.

Aside from her evident athleticism - she scored a 73cm running vertical leap at the Draft Combine which ranked her inside the top 10 nationwide - she has the natural upside that clubs love to see. She might be a long-term prospect, but with her power and speed along with her vertical leap, she has all the tools to become a dangerous player be it off half-back or likely at half-forward getting goalside.

Kendall is a long-term player who will take time, though is still young. She needs to build her endurance to go with her fundamentals, and is more of a burst player. If she gets her chance in an elite system, she will be afforded the time to hone both her tank and her technique to become a much more damaging threat.

SUMMARY:

Tshinta Kendall is a high upside player with outstanding athletic traits. She has been a train-on with the Brisbane Lions and therefore has been under close watch by her local club. Though she does need to build fundamentals in her game, Kendall is one who will be viewed as a long-term talent with an unrestricted ceiling.
