PROFILE:

Violet Patterson looms as one of the first State Draft Combine invitees off the board, having pieced together a consistent three seasons at SANFLW level as well as two years running out for South Australia. Her competitive nature, defensive pressure and two-way running are all elements that come naturally to her, as does her leadership and character, with the Glenelg young gun as well spoken and polite as any 18-year-old to come through the pathways.

While Patterson is one of the most loved and respected by her teammates, her fierce competitive nature comes out every time she steps on the field. Having played both as a wing and inside - even as a pressure forward for South Australia last year - Patterson has the versatility and athletic traits to make it in a wide volume of positions.

Eligible to go to Collingwood as a father-daughter (dad Stephen played 96 games for the Magpies), Patterson could further tighten up her kicking and hit the scoreboard more often when in the midfield, but as a whole she has some fantastic traits that catch the eye and suggest that she will be as coachable and developable as any player before her.
