Greater Western Victoria (GWV) converted Jay Rantall from a basketballer to draft prospect back in 2019, and have done the same with younger brother Wil five years down the line. The junior sibling poses as a much different player, plying his trade as a tall defender at 192cm.

He possesses great speed and mobility for his size, able to close in on opponents and impact the aerial contest. His work rate is quite strong across the backline and he is quite competitive in one-on-one situations, though still has elements of rawness to his game.

A broken collarbone sustained in Round 3 of the Coates Talent League kept Rantall out of action for two months, but he returned in Round 16 and played out the season. Especially given his in-between size, Rantall can look to boost his production level on the rebound and rebuild his endurance base.
