IN an amusing quirk of the fixture, every game this weekend in the Victorian Women’s Premier Firsts is a repeat of the fixture from only a few weekends ago.

Who will reverse the results from a matter of weeks ago? For whom will history repeat itself?

In what will most likely be the most lopsided match this weekend, it’s the undefeated Dees against the winless Bats. Plenty Valley have been the easy beats all season, and there’s no reason to suggest that this won’t change this weekend. They haven’t looked close to winning all season, and up against a side like Melbourne it’s hard to see that changing this weekend.

There’s a lot more riding on this game for the Bombers then there arguably is for Prahran.

The Bombers are currently equal fourth on wins (only in fifth by net run rate), so they have to win in order to keep pace with the top four. If they lose it is certainly going to make their job a lot harder.

Prahran is still in finals contention though, but they are a game behind and their task is already considerably difficult. Last time these two sides met, it was the True Blues who came away with the chocolates, so the Bombers will certainly be hoping history does not repeat itself on Sunday.

A 48 from Jennifer Taffs and three wicket hauls from both Sophie Day and Merinda Hale meant that the True Blues were able to rip through the Bombers’ batting lineup after posting 176 themselves.

Potentially the most even match, it’s third versus fourth down in Melbourne’s east. Both these sides are currently in the top four, but need to keep winning in order to maintain their place, otherwise the sides chasing them may overtake them.

Last time these two sides met it was a nail biter, with Dandenong ultimately getting over the line.

The Rams will have Irish star Una Raymond-Hoey this week, who did not play last time these two sides met. She is their leading run scorer so far this season, but will she be the missing piece the Rams need to get over the line this time?

Although Carlton is currently in second place, the Blues are only a bonus point ahead of Dandenong and one win ahead of Ringwood, so they need to keep winning in order to secure their finals position.

Box Hill on the other hand are currently in sixth, and desperately need to keep winning if they have any hope of making finals.

Last time these two sides met, it was the Blues who got the win. A 172-run opening stance between Sophie Reid (84) and Cailin Green (66) ensured Carlton were able to post 8/241, which Box Hill did not get close to in the end.
