2022 SSN Lists: Adelaide Thunderbirds
A HUGE month of 2022 Suncorp Super Netball signing action is done and dusted, with all eight 10-player teams confirmed for the upcoming season and some intriguing changes amongst the ranks. Without further ado, it is time to run through each of the 2022 team lists, starting off with the Adelaide Thunderbirds.
The Thunderbirds have nowhere to go but up heading into the 2022 season, with a couple of building seasons under them now and a chance to prove their connections have what it takes to move up the ladder next year. The T’Birds will retain majority of their 2021 squad heading into next season, making for a cohesive group that has played a couple of seasons together now which could make them a finals smoky. Their two newcomers provide solid like-for-like replacements for outgoing players Sam Gooden and Shadine Van der Merwe, and add a little more spark and versatility to the 10-player squad. While the Thunderbirds are looking good for next season, the real question is whether they are finals material up against the wholesale changes that some of the other sides have seen in the hunt for the 2022 silverware.
Newcomers:
Tippah Dwan (GA/GS)
Heads to Thunderbirds from the Queensland Firebirds, replacing the outgoing Gooden in the process. Looking to earn greater court time, Dwan offers consistency and playmaking skills to the front-end. Should add a reliable third option to the Thunderbirds attack, able to ply her trade in both goal attack and goal shooter and transition seamlessly into the game.
Tayla Williams (C/WA/WD)
A speedy midcourter who has been elevated off the Thunderbirds’ training partner list for 2022. Williams is a hard worker with the ability to cover any of the three centre court position to provide a versatile fourth midcourt option and a viable chop out for all of the expected starters, but particularly that centre role which has plagued the side.
