2025 Suncorp Super Netball fixture revealed

STARTING on April 5 2025, the Suncorp Super Netball fixture was announced with big matchups and a split round included in the 14-round season, which will end on July 13.

Opening the new season, the Adelaide Thunderbirds will play the Melbourne Vixens in a Grand Final rematch, while First Nations Round will be played in Rounds 7 and 13 to align with National Reconciliation Week and NAIDOC Week.

The clubs will not have the opportunity to participate in a standalone Inclusion Round like 2024, but will instead celebrate their choice of causes throughout the season.

Key matchups to watch

Round 1

Opening round games, pending fitness, will give us our first look at the new SSN recruits and how they have integrated into their teams. International talents such as New Zealand’s Grace Nweke (NSW Swifts), England Rose Imogen Allison (Queensland Firebirds) and Uganda’s Mary Cholhok (Firebirds) will be showcasing their talents to Australia.

A number of players have been signed to full contracts with Adelaide’s Kayla Graham, Queensland Firebird Ashlee Barnett, Fever’s Ruth Aryang and Mavericks’ Shimona Jok elevated to the contracted 10 of their sides.

After a few years at the Vixens, Sharni Lambden might get her first look at the SSN as a Swift in this round after not getting much of a look in prior seasons. While former Kiwi international Gina Crampton will get a rostered spot at Giants Netball.

Derbies and Rivalries

There are many interesting matchups when considering some rivalries and scintillating storylines within the SSN.

You don’t have to look far to find the first one, with the Grand Final rematch to take place to open the season. Both sides have had the wood over the other in recent games, but it was the Thunderbirds that truly took the wins with a thrashing semi-final win and a close Grand Final win over the Vixens.

In Round 3, it’s the first of the traditional rivalries that will see the ‘Battle of the Bruce’ played out when the Firebirds play the Lightning. The next round will see the newest rivals clash, with the Mavericks and the Vixens playing the third game against each other.

In Round 6, there are two great match-ups with the Adelaide Thunderbirds taking on the West Coast Fever at home, while the NSW derby will also take place this round.

The reverse state rivalries will take place in Rounds 9 (Mavericks vs. Vixens and Battle of the Bruce Highway) and 11 (Thunderbirds vs. Fever and NSW derby).
