2025 VNL fixture revealed

IT MAY not even be the end of the 2024 calendar year yet, but Netball Victoria is already looking towards next season after releasing the 2025 Victorian Netball League (VNL) fixture yesterday.

The 2025 campaign will host an 18-round home and away season before a four-week finals series. Round 1 is scheduled to begin on March 12, and the Grand Final is set down for August 13.

Pride Round will be in Round 9, and First Nations Round will be in Round 16.

The first 2024 Grand Final rematches will be in Round 6 for the Championship and Round 11 for the Under 23s.

Although the bulk of the matches will still be played at the State Netball Centre on a Wednesday night, most rounds will have matches played on other nights at different venues.

48 of the matches will be played at 13 home courts across the state, including places like Frankston, Bendigo, Torquay, Cobblebank, Cranbourne East, Altona Meadows, Bundoora, Warragul, Malvern East, Thornbury, Balwyn North, Sandringham and Ballarat.

Round 5, for example, will see no matches in Parkville and will instead be split across six venues and two weeks.

2025 will see a new team enter the Championship Division, with the Gippsland Stars now fielding both a Championship and an Under 23 side.

There is set to be some big name players in the VNL next year including the likes of Mwai Kumwenda, Rahni Samason, Kristiana Manu’a, Zoe Davies and Nyah Allen.
